Welcome LTYM: New York City!

by Varda on January 12, 2012

Welcome to the New York City Listen to Your Mother show from Producer Varda Steinhardt, Director Amy Wilson, and Associate Producers Holly Rosen Fink and Julie Nemitz. We are beyond thrilled to be bringing this wonderful show about motherhood to our community – the Big Apple!

Mother’s Day may well be months away yet, but plans are already afoot…

New York City’s Listen to Your Mother show will be presented on the afternoon of Sunday, May 6th in the JCC Manhattan’s Goldman-Sonnenfeldt Auditorium on the Upper West Side.

Auditions will be held in late February, by appointment. You should look for a post announcing the details to appear here next week. (If you want to be sure not to miss this and all the other exciting news to come about LTYM-NYC, may we suggest you subscribe to our feed?)

In the meantime… if you live in the area and think you might want to audition, please start going through your blog posts or other written pieces and pick out one that you really love and think would work well in the show. If you want to see what sort of pieces have made it into the show before, you will want to watch the past Listen To Your Mother shows.

We are looking for diverse voices telling personal stories about motherhood. We want to hear what you have to say about your mother — or yourself as a mom — or about the mom-ish person in your life. We want the real deal, the deep and authentic stuff that moves us, splits us open with tears, laughter, astonishment or heartfelt connection. While you don’t have to be a mom (or even a woman) to participate, your piece MUST be about motherhood in some way, and the words must be your own.

All updates and announcements will be made here, but please feel free to e-mail us at listentoyourmothernyc@gmail.com with any burning questions you may have.

We hope you’ll consider joining us, and look forward to seeing you at auditions and/or the show!

-Amy, Varda, Holly and Julie
