The foundation for the LTYM-Milwaukee inaugural 2013 show is almost secured. On January 20, the LTYM Milwaukee team has a final meeting for a dream venue they’ve been pursuing since November. We’ve sat and closed coffee shops while brain storming over potential sponsors and non-profit causes, dates and rehearsal sites. With our titles of producer and director, we are doing things we never imagined for ourselves.
We want that same exciting opportunity for you. We invite you to audition for a life changing event celebrating motherhood.
Listen To Your Mother is a nation wide live stage production featuring original readings, happening across 24 cites on or around Mother’s Day. We are looking for voices from around our community to tell their stories of motherhood. The LTYM stage provides a chance to tell the story you feel needs to be told, as well as raising money for causes supporting motherhood.
Come and share your joys and challenges, your laughter and tears. Honor the role of motherhood in your life. Whether you’ve read in front of people before or not, whether you’ve written before or not. Whether you’re a mother, or have never had children. Male, female, we are looking for people to share the moments of delirious delight, poignant honesty, life saving humor, wistful memory, dreams realized or yet to be, moments celebrated and moments lost. We want your defining words on this most basic of human relationships.
Alexandra had never read for an audience before, but felt compelled to share her story. She drove the almost two hours to Madison to read for the 2011 Listen To Your Mother Show. As her feet hit the stage, her heart took flight and her voice held firm as she finally had the chance to tell of the crucial role her grandmother had played in her life.
That’s the strength that comes from the conviction that yours is a story that must be told.
As the Milwaukee team finalizes venues and their non-profit cause, and sets the wheels in motion to bring this show to Milwaukee, we want you to see yourself as part of this powerful show. Whether as a reader or in the audience–we promise you, onstage or offstage–you will leave changed and knowing that you have just experienced something very special.
