Are you a mother? Have a mother? “Mother” a mother? Do you have something to say about motherhood? (You’ve probably realized by now that the “star” of show is motherhood…) Are you nodding “yes”? Read on.
LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER is a national series of live readings by local writers in celebration of Mother’s Day. This year Listen to Your Mother will be presented in 24 cities nationwide; Indianapolis is one of those cities. Judy Miller (@MamaMiller) and Michelle McNally (@gotchababy) are co-producing and directing Indianapolis’ inaugural Listen To Your Mother Show. (And they are SUPER ESTACTIC about it!)
LTYM Indianapolis is looking for original stories about motherhood—the good, the challenging, the funny. Stories that take three to five minutes to read, roughly 750-800 words (please check before emailing to us).
We want to present wide-ranging perspectives and aspects about motherhood and are looking for original, humorous, poignant, and soulful words. We want to hear about the beauty, the beast, and the barely-rested that is motherhood (or about your mother/person who raised you).
We want diversity. All ages, genders (ahem, guys…) and ethnicities are encouraged and invited to submit. (*We will publicize the show as PG-13 due to mature topics. Any piece with strong language will be edited for a wide audience.)
Not a writer? No problem.
No stage experience? No problem.
Not a blogger? No problem.
Not a mother? No problem.
LTYM Indianapolis will take submissions until February 1st. That’s just a few weeks away folks!
Pieces will be selected for auditions, which will be held in Indianapolis during the evening of February 6th and the day of Saturday, February 9th.
