Auditions and a Speaker Announcement

Ladies and Gentlemen, Mothers, Others, People Who Have Mothers,

This message is for you.

We want your stories of motherhood–the humor, the heartbreak, the giggles and the goo. We want it. We will open for submissions on January 25-February 16, 2013. During that time you can email your submissions to LTYMEasternIA@gmail.com, please use the headline “LTYM Submission.” We will have in-person call backs for those pieces that are chosen. We will be picking 10-12 speakers and we hope it is you.

Submissions can be funny or serious. Poetry or prose. If you need some inspiration, check out these videos from previous shows. Your pieces must not be longer than 5 minutes when read out loud. The date of our show is May 12.

And speaking of speakers…we are so happy to announce that Zach Wahls will be speaking at Listen to Your Mother Eastern Iowa. Zach’s message to the Iowa House about growing up with two moms lit up the Internet and helped inspire the cause of families everywhere. Zach wrote a book about his experience growing up called My Two Moms and we’re excited to have his voice on our stage. We’re excited for your voice too!
